What I Do...
To get a fresh idea, I like to go outdoors to paint. When the weather isn't so good, you can find me in my studio, gathering ideas from photos of places I have been and painting away!
Sometimes I am working on a commission, a unique piece of artwork being made for someone with specific ideas in mind.

While I mainly create artwork using oil paint, occasionally I will try acrylics, watercolors, soft pastels, or colored pencils to explore new ideas and techniques.
Why...
For me, creating paintings is an experience of awe and thankfulness. When I see the amazing design God has made, the complexity of each biological system, the beauty in the endless details as well as in the big picture, I am curious and amazed. I am so thankful. I can't copy it, and I don't really want to; I just want to share the poetic beauty of that place, in that moment of time, with you.
While I am painting, sometimes the joy or quiet solitude I experienced in that place come through the pathways of brush marks on canvas. It's one of the best parts about creating original artwork.

Outdoor Painting Adventures
An exciting part of my work is plein air painting - basically, painting outside.
It's always fun to explore a new place and paint something that's memorable so that I can share that experience with you!
While I am painting outside, sometimes hikers or sightseers come by to watch and we talk about what they are up to. It is really neat to hear their stories! If you like, you can come along and check out what I am making outdoors or in the studio on Instagram and Facebook!

down the rocks.

dressed with tangled moss.
